St Day 6th May
Well another day at St Day and another day of ups and downs for Jon and the 229 car. The first heat saw Jon put in a good drive battling fron the back of the field to come in at 7th place only to be black flagged for jumping the start. An outragious decision in my opinion as many a meeting at St day ive seen the reds pile through the blue's before the first corner !!! And i wonder if the officials would have been so quick to do the same to the star grade drivers, but the decision stood and Jon was put into the consolation.
In the consolation Jon was on a mission and went on to put in a great drive and win the race the first of the season so far!

Time came for the final and things didn't qiute go to plan as a slight mistake forced Jon into the outside of the top bend opening the door allowing the pack to come through. The 229 car never really recovered and finished the race well down the pack. On getting the car back to the pits it was found that the seal on the right half shaft had failed and was throwing oil onto the rear wheel causing the handling problems (Jons excuse and he's sticking to it!)
The decision was taken to change the shaft and the tyre before the Grand National which was done with a few seconds to spare!! And Jon jumped in for the final race of the day.
The GN was a bit of a stop start affair and the car still wasn't handling that well, Jon got caught behind a couple of cars spinning on the corner leaving him struggling to catch the pack and again finishing well down the order.
All in all not a bad day's work for the 229 car and lets hope its the start of lots of wins for Jon i think the 229 car would look great with a nice shiny red roof!!
